Wanna know about my running gear? Keep reading…

I get asked often what running gear I wear. We’ll start at the top and work our way down… I wear headbands year round. So. Much. Sweat. And, I make these. I may just make a few to sell one day. We’ll see. I often have to run with a headlamp because I run super early before my kids wake up. I don’t use anything fancy. This is the one I have. I used to use regular ol headphones but then I got a pair of Bluetooth headphones for Christmas and they pretty much blew my mind. I wear these. Most of my shirts are from previous runs, Walmart, Academy and Target. And usually on sale. My shorts are Dona Jo Fitwear and I cannot say enough about this company. Their products are soft and vibrant colored and their customer service is top notch. {Their shorts are sized 1, 2, 3. I wear a size 2 and am usually about a size 8 in regular clothes.} My legs will probably always rub together when I run {sorry, TMI} so I need something that isn’t going to creep up or chafe. And these shorts have been the best for summer running- no chafing. No creeping up. And they’re breathable. I even wore these for my marathon and had zero issues. I’m a FAN. I am an ambassador for CEP compression but they don’t pay me to talk about them. They sent product over to test out and I LOVE their stuff. When you see me with sleeves on my legs in photos, they’re CEP brand. These and these are my favorite products that I use of theirs.  Last, but certainly not least, I run in Altra Running shoes. Fantastic company with a great product. I have been running in the Torin 2.0’s but they’re officially retired now and I just ran for the first time this morning in my new Torin 2.5’s. I’m in love. These shoes are like BUTTUH. Seriously. I feel like I’m running on clouds. Good shoes are super important. My first big running investment was a good pair of shoes. My body thanked me. I did the math this morning- Those 2.0’s took me 452 miles since January. MIND. BLOWN. {I’ll be getting new shoes a little sooner next time.}

For those of you who asked- hopefully this helps! Have a question that wasn’t answered here? Ask in a comment below and I’m happy to answer if I know the answer.

    Sorry for the overload but I’m a total beginner!

    What about tanks? Underarmour? Nike? Walmart? Does it make a difference?
    Are special socks a thing? Or can I use regular socks… I don’t run farther than 3 miles at this point.

    I run with my phone for safety reasons …best way to keep that contained? Spibelt flip belt or arm thingie? Right now I just hold it but would like easy access.

    That being said do I NEED a running watch? (I want one). I’m an accessories girl.
    I tend to use the track at the gym too because they have child care so it’s easier for me to get a run in ….
    What’s the best way to track that? Right now I just use my stopwatch on my phone and hit “lap” every time.

    Any tips for cold running gear? Not sure where you’re at, but here it’ll get negative gazillion in the winter.

    I’m running my first race (5k) in two weeks. Any tips?

    Also, awkward question but …. Underwear ? Lol. Guessing cotton is a no…

    Gah! Sorry. Tell me all the things.

      Ha! I love it! Let’s see if I can answer all of your questions- {This is what works for me, others may answer differently}
      Tanks- doesn’t matter. I’ve bought a bunch from Target, Walmart and Academy. They’re all the same to me as long as they aren’t cotton. None of my summer running gear is cotton.
      I started with a Flip Belt. They’re great! In the summer here I use a belt that will hold water bottles too but I still love my Flip Belt.
      You don’t NEED a watch, but they sure are nice. I’d say to start with something fairly basic. When i looked last, my TomTom watch was on clearance on most websites because they’re discontinuing it. Great watch!
      I live in Texas so it doesn’t get too cold here. I, again, have Target and Academy long sleeved shirts and they work great. I do sometimes wear a thin cotton shirt under a long sleeved shirt to trap in a little heat and it works great. I do have an Under Armour long sleeved pullover that is really nice and warm when it’s super cold here. My running pants are all from TJ Maxx. Nothing too special. I would guess that you’ll need to put a little more thought into your cold weather gear than I have to here. I’m sorry I’m not much help with that!
      Your first 5k!! How exciting!! My advice- ENJOY IT!!
      Cotton underwear is a no go. I would imagine you’d be pulling that out of your rear the whole time. All of my regular running shorts have built in underwear and my compression shorts are pretty snug so it’s not necessary. I don’t want to have to worry about picking my wedgie while I’m running. Hope that helps!!. Feel free to email me with any other questions you have! Emily@EmilyEatsRealFood.com
